so i had a few strokes of genius (haha) during the summer. After organizing all the toys, i took pictures of each box and then with picasa wrote on the picture and printed them all the same size and put them on their respective boxes. I love it! It helps us all put things away where they go. It also helps that I got another toy shelf from a friend who was getting rid of it, and that when my Grandma was here she suggested putting that on top of the other shelf so that many of the toys are out of reach and must be asked for! Somehow things can still get out of control messy! but for the most part it's improved.

I also stayed up really late one night working on this stroke of genius, which really turned out to be effective for about a day. (okay maybe a week). Seriously, figuring out how to motivate kids and get them to be somewhat autonomous without constant parental nagging can be quite a mind-boggling and hair-pulling endeavor. When I was buying a fancy and very cool chore chart, I also saw that they had routine cards to flip over when the child accomplished the task, I thought it was a good idea but didn't want to buy them and thought I could do my own so l stole their idea of flipping cards over and made mine morning routine on one side and nighttime routine on the other. The chore chart and the cards did not bring about the revolutionary changes I was seeking, but we'll keep trying!

Morning routine.
1. get dressed, 2. make your bed, 3. brush your teeth, 4. clean your room.
The idea is to flip these over as each task is accomplished and the reward is breakfast! admittedly cleaning the room doesn't happen so well with school and brushing teeth is reserved for after bkfast.

Nighttime routine:
1. put on jammies, 2. brush your teeth, 3. get a book, 4. go to bed (and say prayer)
regardless of their effectiveness, they'll remain simply because I think they're cute and they cost me a good night's sleep!

the kids wanted to camp out on the balcony. I thought it wasn't a bad idea, and I was much more comfy with this than I think I would be if they were all alone in a tent in a backyard. I slept not too far away on the couch. Amazing how kids can sleep on any surface!

I had no idea they did this. How fun. Where was I?

are those kids excited or what?? Thanks Grami for sending them little gifts. They loved it! And it was great timing, that morning we had to go to the permit office and spend hours waiting and they were able to play with their stuff.

Geneve and her ishuffle. when I used to run (that lasted quite well until Spencer was on work trips for two weeks in a row and then we had guests at which point I stopped and haven't picked it up again due to being unmotivated by cold and rain and morning darkness...) Geneve loved to grab my mp3 player afterward and listen and dance.

our laundry basket and geneve. I'm eerily reminded of E.T. for some reason.
the kids love playing in this thing, it's very versatile.

It does look like the plastic tunnel in E.T., the only difference is the cute baby in the photo, nothing like E.T.

The pedibus in all it's once a year glory. We share taking the kids to school and back with other parents, and once a year, a clown. Normally this is not how the pedibus looks, in fact it is quite small, with a little more than a handful of parents participating, but to try and up the numbers and promote it they have a clown come at the beginning of the school year. Too bad I don't think it accomplished that goal. But it was fun! We'll be saying goodbye to the pedibus soon as we'll be moving out of the school area but will continue going to school at the same place, that means Spencer and I will be the pedibus, no help! we'll have to grow up I guess and be more organized!

Cado was becoming very distraught as you can see in his face about not getting a sword. He finally got one, he was very happy but he's still recovering in this photo.

Paisley was the lucky recipient of the only big flower he made! it was probably because of the flower in her hair, oh yeah and the green and pink dress.

Okay, you will not be able to read this whether it is due to not knowing French or the blurriness, so I will tell you what it says.
Are you sick and tired of being taken hostage by the dealers who create a constant insecurity and nuissance in our neighborhood? We have a real supermarket of drugs over here, let's do something about it, ...etc.
I was very happy to see this as the problem really is ridiculous! The park nearby we call our backyard park which we love is truly infested with drugdealers, potsmokers, beerdrinkers, and general idlers. But since this meeting there hasn't been any changes. I guess the fact that we're moving will bring the change, hopefully our new area isn't the same way.

yes, when showing our apartment people would ask "is there anything bad about it" and we always answered honestly "drug dealers".

"We women have a lot to learn about simplifying our lives. We have to decide what is important and then move along at a pace that is comfortable for us. We have to develop the maturity to stop trying to prove something. We have to learn to be content with what we are." -Marjorie Pay Hinckley "I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived." -Marjorie Pay Hinckley
