We love going to the Montreux castle, Chateau de Chillon at Christmas time. The castle is alive because a troop of people comes and sells their wares and plays music and dances, and makes and sells food, and basically lives in the castle. It's awesome! We had a great time. It is really a special and unique experience.

Some of the Medieval folks and their wares. I'm very fascinated by this. How do they do this? How do they know how to do this stuff and play the instruments they play, that really are ancient instruments no longer used today, and above all, is this how they make a living? if not how in the world are they able to have jobs and spend the amount of time they do living and working in another time period! In any case, I'm grateful they do, because its really cool.

castle people. preparing food, doing archery, playing music, standing guard, visiting the peasants, and the babies being towed around in a wicker wagon, etc.

dining in the castle's dining hall. The food was so good. Excellent soup, mini flammenkeuchen (tarte flambe), lentils and ham, bread, and some pies. Most if not all made right there in the castle.

At first we watched the colorfully dressed medieval people dancing and playing dance sort of games with music being played, and then the kids were invited in to do a serpent/congo line game. They were in heaven! It was so fun, cute and cool. I took way too many pictures.

Paisley joined first, eventually followed by Geneve and Cado. They had so much fun.

another pretty girl. As you can see she was quite mellow this day. She must have been tired.

Beautiful. Her eyes are so striking!
harmony on Monday February 14, 2011
Thanks! I know! It's because she has blue eyes and super dark, long lashes. How'd she get those? I don't really know but she's lucky.

Words of Wisdom I hope I can remember and live by!
"We women have a lot to learn about simplifying our lives. We have to decide what is important and then move along at a pace that is comfortable for us. We have to develop the maturity to stop trying to prove something. We have to learn to be content with what we are." -Marjorie Pay Hinckley "I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived." -Marjorie Pay Hinckley
