This is our "backyard pool." Its very close to our house. We have a park right behind our house that's our "backyard park" too. they have little wading pools all over the city. Something that really peeves me about Southern California is the lack of free public/community things and events. I will greatly miss that here. there's always festivals, music, markets, etc. as well as large, fun parks, petting zoos, carousels, a lake, a river, little wading pools, etc. There's just so much more available to get out and do in the community. In America it is more like you have to create it for yourself by building your own pool or your own playground in your backyard. There isn't the connection to your community or neighbors like their is here. I'm sure there are exceptions, but I think that is generally true. At least in California. I thought Utah was much better that way. There are fun big pools everywhere, and community events and culture, little community theaters, etc. I don't like the idea of I have my big house, my big yard, my big car and I keep to my big self! ha! there's my soapbox for the day!

Uh Oh sounds like Ca is loosing it's appeal more and more. I do understand what you are saying and agree whole-heartedly. What is even better about all those things you are talking about is they are free too, yes? This truly looks like fun. Remember when we got in TROUBLE for letting the kids swim and play at the Orange mall where they had all those pools and fountains tempting the kids on a hot summer day. Enjoy it while you can. It's all the LIBERAL's fault. No actually it's the sue happy people here that ruin it for all.

Words of Wisdom I hope I can remember and live by!
"We women have a lot to learn about simplifying our lives. We have to decide what is important and then move along at a pace that is comfortable for us. We have to develop the maturity to stop trying to prove something. We have to learn to be content with what we are." -Marjorie Pay Hinckley "I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived." -Marjorie Pay Hinckley
