wow, what is this? It looks straight out of a movie.
yeah, they were filming a movie, we got to be extras.
jk. that would have been cool. it was kind of like being on a movie set I imagine. though we were in an actual castle. But all these people come and do this and set up and make the castle come alive. we think its pretty cool, and one of the best things to do here at Christmas time.
very cool.
ham roasted in a fire. All of it actually takes place in this really old cool castle. a cast of medieval characters occupies the castle and they cook and make and sell goods and do demonstrations, etc. Its a very fun and cool thing to do. We discovered it last year and did it again.
the food was great. lentils and ham and hearty bread.
Paisley was miserable the whole day. she was probably a combintion of cold, tired, and then her skirt wouldn't stay up which is very annoying. She wanted to go to the castle as a princess of course and Cado wanted to be a knight, which has become his life aspiration.
Actually, the job as a "knight" is one that he will do on the side, he told me. I can't remember the details as to why though.
Lentils and Ham, yum I think I just might make me some lentils tonight. I love Cado's zest for life and his endless imagination and DETERMINATION. What a kid. he keeps me in stitches. Miss Paisley and her skirts. She needs a long one like the ladies at the castle. She might be warmer and happier.
For some reason Lentils are good when a 15th century cook makes them on an open fire in a Castle when its freezing cold. Don't believe me, try it sometime.
so true!
I think lentils are good when made in Grami's kitchen too, if you don't believe me you ought to try them sometime.
the candle makers shop. so i said to spencer this day, i want to leave here with something, whether its 5 franc candle or a 40 franc piece of pottery. and guess what i left with? nothing. yeah. i'm still bummed about it. its not because of spencer, he was fine wtih the idea, its that, with kids and cold and trying to see everything first, it just didn't happen. boohoo.
Boohoo, is right. Next time get the goodie first thing. Grami likes candles too.
For a second I thought this was Josh. A good looking bloke doing some manly job. I like Josh with a beard and facial hair. Spencer too. Most men that I don't have to kiss much.
The local shoe maker, I suppose.
when cado sees this picture he lets out an "OH-WOW" that is sort of like Tim Allen's gutteral manly approval grunt. It pretty much says, "yeah! that is the coolest thing ever and thats what i want to be when i grow up."
I can see it now.
This picture is too cute. I am glad you put it on my callender, and now I understand the scene behind and what's going on. Absolutely adorable. brings me back to the days of Brian and Harmony and all their performances.
There's a real person in there.
here are mine and Cado's creations. they had a guide on how to do the letters. Cado was so cute trying to do it. do you see how he did his letters with the extra lines?
I hope you saved these, I love it. What great experiences you guys are having.
I always try to get a photo of Geneve on our outings so as to say, Geneve was here, or later, see Geneve, you were there, but they always pretty much look like this, or more likely her in the stroller asleep with blankets around her. this picture is about as non-descript about her location as it gets.
Warm and cozy is all that matters to her right now. She'll have her times someday too.

This album is public for all to see.

We had a fun and busy Saturday on December 13th. Daddy and the kids went and got a tree in the morning, then we went to Chateau de Chillon where they have a Christmas medieval marche, and then we came home and Mommy went to a "Girl's night in" party at friend Laura Gaag's house.
