harmony We had a friend and missionaries over for dinner on Sunday for Valentine's and I MADE everyone take this picture! I made my first beef tenderloin roast ever (filet de boeuf), and if I do say so myself it was so good it would have made a vegetarian sad! (and I am not a big meat-eater), it was accompanied by a shallot & mushroom sauce and roasted carrotts and potatoes, one of my favorite salads: pear, roquefort, red onion, candied pecans with a garlic vinaigrette, bread and cheese, a layered jello "soup" (part of it never set up). We finished it off with chocolate mousse with raspberries and whipped cream. It was yummy! But it was also one of the first times where because i had been making it all day I didn't feel much like eating or it didn't taste as yummy as i thought it would or something, but the next day when I bit off a piece of meat, it was sooo good. I was going to do a whole blog post about this in its proper order, but I liked this photo and wanted to share! (the kids are covered in dinner and chocolate mousse!)

Very cute, and the dinner sounds wonderful. I just made the same salad when Grandma Great and Maren were here, great minds think alike!

This photo turned out really well, you can't even see how covered in food we all are. Despite slaving away in the kitchen you look radiant.

Harmony, that is what happens when you cook all day, or do a variety of things in the kitchen, you end up not wanting to eat what you made, because you made it, and maybe tasted it during the process. Sounds like a great meal, and sometimes things taste better the second day, especially pizza and spaghetti....the "Juice"

Great job sweetie ! and Thanks Kirsten for the compliment. My children have far surpassed my talents and it is so fun to see them expand their talents and abilities. Words of Wisdom I hope I can remember and live by!
"We women have a lot to learn about simplifying our lives. We have to decide what is important and then move along at a pace that is comfortable for us. We have to develop the maturity to stop trying to prove something. We have to learn to be content with what we are." -Marjorie Pay Hinckley "I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived." -Marjorie Pay Hinckley
