We've survived so far, and only one major breakdown from Cado.  It was due to extreme tiredness and he was playing at the park we found that has a cool castle in it.  He was so excited about it that he was pushing other kids out of the way to go down the slide.  So we took him away and he screamed for at least 30 minutes.  Because he was so upset, we said he couldn't go to the park again that day, and since we also needed to do other things.  He screamed more.  So Harmony tried to explain that because he is part of a family we all do things together.  He stated that he no longer wanted to be part of our family.  So we set him by a fountain and went around the corner.  He didn't care.  We stayed close so we could tell he was alright, but he couldn't see us.  He just sat there until we finally gave in and talked to him more.  Finally after some more screaming and whining, he fell asleep.  Yay!  Then he was pleasant.

Well, enjoy some videos of the first four days:

Until next time!

We enjoyed watching the videos. All the children watched with me. I am impressed by the tiny kitchen and the Milch (that must be milk).

Jonathan wants to say, "I would really like to see you again, Cado. That play thing that you were on looks really fun. I miss you. Love, Jonathan."

Mary says "It's really funny when you play the fee fi fo fum thing in the castle, Cado."

Rachel wonders where the castle was. Near your hotel?
harmony on Wednesday October 10, 2007
the castle isn't right by our hotel but its probably only a 10 minute walk.  we need to go back sometime.  Pailsey was asleep when we were there before.  I have to tell you that Cado has been asking about his cousins a lot.  The day we went looking for apartments when we came to pick him up at the friend's house, he said, I want to go to my cousin's house.  I said, who are your cousins?  He said, I don't know, can we go to their house?  We said, you're cousins live in America, they don't live here.  he was freaking out, so we told him that his cousins were on vacation and we've decided we'll call his new friends (that we haven't even met yet, Drew and Avery, the kids of the american couple we've been emailing with) his cousins, they'll be his Switzerland cousins!

Very exciting.  This is our apartment hotel in Geneva.  It's small, but we call it home (what movie is that from, anyone?  ).  Today Cado actually did say to Paisley, "We're going home Paisley", as we got into our elevator after dinner.

So we are in room 41, which is on the 4th European floor, the 5th American floor.  The ground floor is called 0 in Europe.

So the good things about this is that there is a maid who comes and cleans everything every day.  They do our laundry too, although we haven't taken advantage of that service.

So, in the news is that we bought a stroller today.  We were carrying the kids around, trying to get them to walk, going on buses, etc. today and we got so tired, we said - we need to buy one sometime, so we better just do it now.  We bought a side by side stroller, and in the process saw more of the town.

Tomorrow we'll do something really fun, like go to a big park, or something yet to figure out.

Cool Cool.  I assume there's a video or something that I can't see because Youtube is blocked here on campus.  I'll see whatever it is that is supposed to be embedded when I get home tonight.  I'm glad you made it safely to Geneva, and I'm glad that we have Roundbook to stay connected.

Thanks for the great details and tour of your apartment/hotel room.  I especially loved Paisley's singing.  I love to hear of your daily events.  Keep it up.  Hope you are getting more sleep.

Well, Paisley's singing made me homesick for you guys.  She seems quite content.  Harmony- thanks for all of the newsy news news.  Spencer- thanks for the tour of the apartment. Thanks for the pictures. You're all a great family and its great how you're adjusting together.  Really, you've successfully made a very demanding trip together and now your all experiencing Geneva together.

It's a long time until next September but  = = if you"re settled we'll try to start our transatlantic adventure in Geneva on our way to Venice.  By about September 29th you should have everything well in hand and Cado and Paisley will be able to give us old folks some French lessons. Love Pat and Grandpac

Thanks everyone!  We wish you were all here, in this very small apartment with us - wouldn't that be great!

GrandpaC - We better be settled by September, that's half way through our scheduled stay!  We look forward to seeing you then!

Harmony, I think many that you mention look, but don't respond,  Mom has been looking and responding lately however.  Josh and Jeff don't ever go onto the sight, and I thought Brian was looking but no comments recently.

GrandpaC - that'll be wonderful!   I checked and there are no hyatt's in Geneva, only in Zurich which is not close.  However, having been around town quite a bit I can tell you there are a lot of nice hotels here.  Are there any other chains you prefer, I can check.

Spencer: Thanks! We've got time. We'll later.

So, Harmony shared this video with me the other day.  This is the band OK GO.  Their website is here: http://www.okgo.net/.

She saw the video on a friend's blog, which you can see here.

So I said,

"you know, you can put videos like that on Roundbook too!"

And I don't know why it never occured to me, but you really can do this quite easily.  For a long time, I'd been thinking about putting video sharing into Roundbook.  And someday, I may.  But for the moment - if you want to share a video from some other service, like YouTube, then you can.

Before I go into the details - enjoy this video.  Even if you are not a fan of the music (its pretty fun music though), you need to watch the whole thing because the coordination and choreography is amazing.  You'll be blown away by what these guys do on treadmills.  And given the music, they seem to be talented musicians too.

Um, I'll put up a tutorial on how to do this later.  But basically, when writing a blog, you would push the "Source" button, and copy the code from YouTube.  YouTube provides this code next to each video.  It looks like this:

<embed allowScriptAccess="never" allownetworking="internal"  src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pv5zWaTEVkI" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="320"
height="256"></embed>.

Then press the source button again and write about it.

Later - Spencer

Wow! New innovative exercise!  This certainly breaks the monotony of the treadmill.  The music is okay.  Thanks for sharing.

Spence-It was good hearing from you.  I think your site is great.  I'm trying to convince my family to use it.  Hey, I noticed that your brother lives in Bellevue.  I live there too.  Keep up the good work and if I have any suggestions I will definitely give them to you.

Pete
